On Sunday May 17th, after an early-morning visit to the market in Fontainebleau to stock up on veggies and fruit, followed by a picnic breakfast of croissants and good coffee on the banks of the Seine opposite the (sadly closed) kayak club, we set off for a hike that took us along the river, past some spectacular houses from the late 19th century, before turning into the forest to follow Denecourt trail 13. This led us through beautiful and peaceful woodland to the Tour Denecourt from which there is a terrific view over the whole of the Fontainebleau Forest. Just over 8 kilometres in all and the ideal way to work up an appetite for the chicken shawarma pie that I prepared yesterday.
